Does this sound like you?

Are you experiencing persistent worry, anxiety, or low mood during your pregnancy?

Do you have a history of depression, anxiety, or other mental health conditions and worry about how pregnancy might affect your mental health?

Have you experienced previous pregnancy loss, birth trauma, or infertility, and find yourself struggling with fear or grief during this pregnancy?

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the changes pregnancy brings to your body, relationships, and identity?

Pregnancy comes with many hidden struggles.

You want to truly enjoy the experience, but find it hard to.

While pregnancy is often portrayed as a purely joyful experience, many mothers face unexpected mental health challenges during this time.

  • Hormonal changes

  • Life adjustments

  • Relationship strain

  • Concerns about childbirth and parenthood

These can all trigger anxiety, depression, and overwhelming stress.

The perinatal period (pregnancy through the first year after birth) represents a unique time when your mental health needs specialized attention. Without proper support, these challenges can impact not only your well-being but also your relationship with your baby and partner.

Many women suffer in silence, believing their struggles are uncommon or that they should be able to manage on their own. However, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders affect up to 1 in 5 women, making them among the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth.

Your feelings are completely normal.

Many moms-to-be experience these exact same worries and emotions.

Pregnancy throws your hormones into overdrive, changes your body in big ways, shifting how you see yourself and your future.

Of course that affects how you feel!

But here's the thing: when these feelings start taking over your days, keeping you up at night, or making it hard to function, that's when reaching out to a mental health professional makes sense.

Talking to someone who understands perinatal mental health is a really brave step that helps both you and your baby.

Getting support early means you can spend more time enjoying your pregnancy instead of just surviving it

Common Questions about Prenatal Mental Health Counseling

  • You can begin counseling at any point during your pregnancy. Some women seek support early in pregnancy, especially if they have a history of mental health concerns, while others may reach out later as new challenges arise.

The ideal time is whenever you feel you could benefit from additional emotional support.

  • Many women find weekly or bi-weekly sessions most beneficial, but we'll work with you to determine the frequency that best meets your needs. As you develop coping skills and feel more confident, sessions may become less frequent.

  • We are currently in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Optum (United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar).

For all other insurance providers, we can provide a "superbill" for you to submit for potential reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance company to verify your specific coverage for mental health services.

  • Prenatal counseling specifically addresses the unique mental health challenges that arise during pregnancy. We have specialized training in maternal mental health and understand the physical, hormonal, and psychological changes occurring during this time.

We focus on interventions that are appropriate and effective for pregnant women, with consideration for both your well-being and your baby's development.
